The Presidential Transition Act was adopted by Congress in 1963 to provide an important statutory framework for the peaceful transfer of power. Join us Friday, November 13, at 12:00 p.m. EST for a discussion with former secretaries of homeland security and transition experts on the importance of a peaceful and effective presidential transition to ensure America's safety and security. Secretary Michael Chertoff, who served under President George W. Bush, oversaw the transition of the department to Secretary Janet Napolitano, who served under President Barack Obama. They are among four former homeland security secretaries who came together to create the nonpartisan Citizens for a Strong Democracy to focus on election integrity and to support a secure presidential transition.
