LT. GEN. JAMES M. DUBIK (U.S. Army, Ret.), a senior fellow at the Institute for the Study of War, studies the Iraqi Security Forces, ways to improve U.S. and allied training of indigenous security forces, and counterinsurgency doctrine. Dubik assumed command of Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq in 2007. During this final command, he oversaw the generation and training of the Iraqi Security Forces. Dubik also served as the commanding general of I Corps at Ft. Lewis and as the deputy commanding general for transformation, U.S. army training, and doctrine command. His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, four awards of the Legion of Merit, and five awards of the Meritorious Service Medal. Dubik is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
