Gareth Davies is author of From Opportunity to Entitlement: The Transformation and Decline of Great Society Liberalism (1996). He has published on the social policies and political crisis of the United States during the 1960s, on the comparative development of social policy in Canada and the United States, and on the foundation of the New Deal welfare state. He is currently writing a book on American education policy, 1965-1980, and is also working on the social welfare legacy of the Reagan administration.
