Don Oberdorfer is journalist-in-residence and adjunct professor of international relations at Johns Hopkins University's Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C. His career as a journalist spanned 38 years, including 25 with the Washington Post, the last 17 of those as the newspaper?s diplomatic correspondent. As the Post?s correspondent from Northeast Asia (1972 ?75) he was responsible for Japan and Korea, and has visited both North and South Korea several times since, including a trip to Pyongyang and Seoul last November. Oberdorfer is the author of four books, including The Two Koreas: A Contemporary History, first published in 1997 and revised in December 2001.
