Kathleen A. Cox, who earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia, is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. A law graduate of the University of Chicago and holder of a masters degree from Georgetown University's Graduate School of Public Policy, Cox practiced intellectual property law before joining CPB in 1997. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (a private, non-profit corporation created by Congress in 1967), receives an annual appropriation from the Congress representing 14.9 percent of public broadcasting's revenues, and funds more than 1,000 locally operated public radio and television stations.
