SCOTT ATRAN is a leading expert on suicide terrorism and al Qaeda as well as a presidential scholar in sociology at John Jay College. He also serves as director of research in anthropology at the National Center for Scientific Research in Paris and a visiting professor of psychology and public policy at the University of Michigan. Atran's scientific studies have appeared in scientific journals in dozens of countries, and his work on religion and terrorism has been featured around the world by the Associated Press, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, ABC, and the Discovery Channel. His books include "Cognitive Foundations of Natural History: Towards an Anthropology of Science" and "In Gods We Trust: The Evolutionary Landscape of Religion." A book signing will follow his Forum.
