Frederick A.O. Schwarz, Jr., senior counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice, has been a litigation partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore since 1969. He served as chief counsel to the Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with respect to Intelligence Activity. He earned degrees from Harvard and from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. His book, co-written by Aziz Z. Huq, argues that "Making the executive supreme makes the nation no safer – either from its enemies or its own worst impulses."
