As Chicago bureau chief of “The New York Times,” ISABEL WILKERSON won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for feature writing for her coverage of the historic Midwestern floods and for her profile of a boy growing up on Chicago’s South Side. The award made Wilkerson the first black woman to win a Pulitzer Prize in journalism and the first black American to win for individual reporting.  She also serves as a journalism professor and the director of the narrative nonfiction program at Boston University. The John Simon Guggenheim Foundation awarded her a fellowship to advance the research for her new book, “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration.” A book signing will follow her Forum.
