Ambassador Donald F. McHenry has written and lectured widely on how the United States policy toward the U. N. Fits into overall American foreign policy. McHenry, is now a Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and served as Ambassador and U. S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations from September, 1979 until January 20, 1981; in that capacity he also served in the Cabinet of President Jimmy Carter. He previously had served as U. S. Deputy Representative to the U. N. Security Council, a position he had held since March 1977.This Forum will be jointly hosted by the Blue Ridge Chapter of the United Nations Association of the U. S. A., as part of the Chapter?s United Nations Day celebration.
