This conference will feature two special panel discussions on Partisan Rancor and American Democracy, at which leading scholars and practitioners will examine the impact of party politics and polarization on the American democratic process. The afternoon session, moderated by Miller Center Director Governor Gerald Baliles, examined partisanship's influence on contemporary politics and government and will be led by Scott Rasmussen, public opinion pollster, co-founder of ESPN, and founder and CEO of Rasmussen Reports; Juliet Eilperin, national reporter at the Washington Post; and Will Marshall, President and Founder of the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI). Topics include: Election 2008; McCain; Obama.
