President Johnson holds a press conference in the East Room to announce the withdrawal of United States Marines from the Dominican Republic and how foreign aid funds for Southeast Asia will be handled. He then takes questions on a number of subjects, including the Organization of American States, Vietnam, and the establishment of the “Johnson Doctrine,” which would seek to oppose attempts to install Communist dictatorships in the Western hemisphere.
