President Franklin Roosevelt celebrates the 150 year anniversary of Marietta’s establishment, “the first civil government west of the original thirteen colonies.”  The President honors the legacy of the frontiersmen and their reliance on the government for help and promises the same assistance to Americans’ new frontier “of social and economic problems.”
