The 2009 David R. Goode National Transportation Policy Conference: President Obama on Infrastructure
On October 11, 2010, President Obama met with Miller Center Conference Co-Chairs and former Secretaries of Transportation Norman Mineta and Samuel Skinner for a briefing on the Miller Center's recently released transportation report. The meeting also included Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
In a Rose Garden announcement following the meeting, President Obama expressed support for the report and expanded infrastructure investment, stating that it "confirms what any American can already tell you: our infrastructure is woefully inefficient and it is outdated."
