President Eisenhower’s Inauguration

On January 20, 1953, President Dwight D. Eisenhower was sworn in as the thirty-fourth President of the United States. In his speech, President Eisenhower observed, “We sense with all our faculties that forces of good and evil are massed and armed and opposed as rarely before in history,” and called upon the American people to have faith and take action.
