The Big Four in Paris

While in Paris for the 1919 Peace Conference, President Woodrow Wilson, far right, met with, from left, Lloyd George of Great Britain, Vittorio Orlando of Italy, and Georges Clemenceau of France.  Despite Wilson's push for “peace without victory,” negotiations ended months later with the creation of the Treaty of Versailles which imposed harsh terms on Germany for its actions during World War I.
