President Eisenhower begins this State of the Union Address talking about the divided world and the threat of nuclear annihilation, but he points to the US willingness to engage in serious discussion with the Soviet Union to create peace with justice. He also notes that the United States has enormous defense power and outlines some of the US military programs such as the missile program. The president then turns to domestic issues such as the US economy and his success in putting forth a balanced budget to Congress.
